As a church rooted in Jesus Christ, we will aspire to give ourselves away. Our belief that every word of Scripture is right and good and true, will compel us toward lives of generosity and love. On Sunday mornings, we come together with our full passion, intensity and creativity. We join together to be reminded of the good news of our Savior, Jesus Christ. We bring all we are to meet with God and receive all He is. We sing, we listen, we learn and grow.
CURRENT MINISTRY
We wanted to let you know that we will continue with this ministry even during this pandemic as this is a good time to purchase/collect school supplies, soap, washcloths, toys, or other items to fill a shoebox (candy, gum, and toothpaste are no longer acceptable items and remember no liquids, lotions, food, breakables, or war related toys).
Instead of the church providing the plastic shoeboxes, this year we ask you to use standard cardboard shoeboxes or purchase plastic ones. Walmart or Dollar stores usually have the plastic ones in stock.
Instead of providing you with the box labels we ask that you tape a note on each box that identifies the box for boy or girl, ages 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. If needed, use rubber bands to keep box closed. We will affix the proper labels once we have collected all the boxes.
If you want to provide the requested $9 shipping and handling per shoebox you fill or you just want to make a general donation to this Project, please make check out to the Church designated for Operation Christmas Child and mail them or drop them off at the church when you send in your tithe. Do not enclose the check or cash in the shoebox, please. All the monetary funds collected by the church will go directly to Operation Christmas Child in one check to the organization from First Presbyterian.
We will determine how to handle the collections of boxes at a later time. Remember you have until early November but now is a good time to start. Last year we collected about 80 boxes.
